The special group meeting was held on Saturday the 30th of June to launch our group website officially and educate members about the current activities taking place. We had a great turnout of people for this event and we would like to thank all of those who came in to make this event a success.
For everyone who came in, THANK YOU! It means a lot to the group.
- After the registration of members, Minidu, our president, addressed the crowd and welcomed them as well as thanked them for dedicating time for this event.
- First item was for committee member Buddhika Gonaduwa to explain the grouping concept for our existing members to improve internal communications relating to members. Gonaduwa explained the concept which the committee had been working on for a while.
- The highlight of the event was launching of the website, which was presented by Ishan Karunaratne – who did most of the leg work building up the site and for it to be at the point where it is now. Ishan pretty much covered the entire website and outlined the goals we wish to achieve.
– The website needs to be portal for the groups members to communicate with each other and discuss/share ideas and also a resource center that is filled with information about Ananda College.
– Ishan invited and encouraged the members to become contributors for the website and put up content that they believe to be necessary.
– Ishan went on to explain the membership features and grouping capabilities which makes it easier for members to create groups be a part of the previous idea presented by Gonaduwa. See here and here for more details. - The next item was handled by committee member Manoj Lanka – who explained the details of the Cricket Carnival that’s being planned
– The Cricket Carnival will be held on the 4th of August and we expect all our members to be there with their spouses and kids – we have activities planned for all family members with special attention for kids.
– Anyone who is confirming a team, should do that before the 20th July 2012. Please inform, the secretary or Manoj Lanka / K P Roshan of the details of your team.
– Please note that teams should purchase tickets for all 6 members to be registered for the event. - Main OBA membership
– Shashika Ranasinghe explained the details of the main OBA membership and outlined why it is important for all our members to be members of the main OBA.
– We handed out membership forms and provided signatures from existing members to people who required it
The president, Minidu, concluded the event by explaining what we have achieved so far during this year and what is planned.
– We are to conduct the Cricket Carnival
– We will be doing an IT project for the school – Viduranga explained the details of this at the meeting, more details to follow
– Main entertainment event as a fundraiser for the group
– Get together event in 2013
